Background and Purpose: Despite the importance of self regulated learning in science education, interactive and theory based instructional tools for fostering these skills in elementary school remain limited. This study aimed to design and validate an electronic learning package for fourth grade science(sky in night), based on Pintrich’s self regulated learning model and developed using H5P.
Methodology: This applied research employed a mixed methods approach with a sequential exploratory design across three stages: analysis, development, and validation. The content of the “Sky at Night” chapter was coded according to Pintrich’s model and adapted to H5P capabilities to create a six session instructional scenario. The learning package included interactive videos, flashcards, and hands on activities. Subsequently, 25 fourth grade teachers evaluated the content validity (CVR) and quality dimensions (relevance, clarity, simplicity).
Findings: All six sessions yielded CVR values exceeding the acceptable threshold of 0.37, with an overall mean of 0.76. One-sample t-tests revealed that the mean content quality scores across all sessions and dimensions (relevance, clarity, simplicity) ranged from 3.36 to 3.92 (on a 4-point scale) and were significantly higher than the theoretical midpoint of 2.5, with t-values between 8.78 and 25.36 (df = 24, all p < 0.001).
Conclusion: The “Sky at Night” electronic learning package demonstrates high content validity and educational quality. By integrating Pintrich’s self regulated learning model with H5P technology, this package provides a practical framework for fostering self regulation in elementary science education and serves as an effective tool for formal learning environments.
