Abstract
The purpose of the present study was the role of the amount of usage and attitude towards virtual social networks in predicting the vitality and academic satisfaction of students. The research method was descriptive and correlational. The statistical population of the present study consisted of all the male students of the first year of high school in Rask city in the academic year of 2022-2023 in the number of 2150 people, of which 356 students were selected as the sample of the study. To collect data, the questionnaire of the amount and attitude towards the use of virtual social networks by Hejazi et al. (2015), the academic vitality questionnaire by Dehghanizadeh et al. (2011) and the academic satisfaction questionnaire from Motlaq et al. (2007) were used. Data analysis was done using correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis simultaneously in SPSS-26. The results of data analysis showed that there was a negative and significant relationship between the amount of use of virtual social networks with academic vitality and academic satisfaction. Also, there was a positive and significant relationship between the attitude towards virtual social networks with academic vitality and academic satisfaction. The results of the regression analysis showed that the amount of use and attitude towards social networks were able to predict students' academic vitality with -0.21 and 0.40, respectively. Also, the amount of use and attitude towards social networks were able to predict students' Educational Satisfaction with -0.21 and 0.40, respectively. Based on the results of the present study, it can be seen that the amount of usage and attitude towards the use of virtual social networks has an important effect on the academic performance of students.
